🔴 Complete Documentation of a Deliberate Humanitarian Blockade

“No beans, no labneh, no cheese — absolutely nothing is allowed in.”
This chilling statement was made by an armed militant affiliated with the General Security and Ministry of Defense, operating under the authority of the de facto regime, and accompanied by tribal militias loyal to the Jolani government.
The declaration was broadcast in a video posted on his personal Facebook account. The footage was recorded from the frontlines of Um Al-Zaytoun village, located along the main Damascus–As-Suwayda highway, with several other armed men visibly present beside him.
In the video, the militant brazenly boasts about imposing a total blockade on the entry of food, humanitarian aid, and even the most basic life necessities into As-Suwayda Governorate. His remarks come amid a brutal siege that has gripped the region for more than two consecutive weeks. Throughout this period, the civilian population has suffered from rapidly depleting food reserves, total shutdown of drinking water wells, widespread power outages, and severe fuel and gas shortages — turning daily life into a humanitarian catastrophe.
In addition to enforcing this blockade, the same armed groups have repeatedly opened fire on convoys carrying humanitarian aid attempting to enter the city. They have also deliberately targeted electricity maintenance crews working to restore infrastructure damaged by ongoing military aggression.
The village of Um Al-Zaytoun, once home to hundreds of civilians, is now nearly deserted. Residents were forcibly displaced following a series of organized assaults. Armed fighters looted and set fire to homes and personal property, and carried out summary field executions and abductions of unarmed civilians. Some victims remain missing to this day, while others lie dead and unattended in the streets and within destroyed homes.
This incident is part of a broader, systematic campaign of collective punishment, which constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and may amount to crimes against humanity under the Rome Statute.
