Request for Emergency Helicopter Support to Contain Deliberate Wildfires Targeting Alawite Civilians in Syria
For several days now, deliberate and coordinated wildfires have been breaking out in Alawite-populated areas of Syria. These fires have caused extensive damage, forced displacement of civilians, and targeted innocent people and their property.
The affected areas are predominantly Alawite villages — the same regions that previously witnessed sectarian killings, kidnappings, and forced displacement by the de facto authority. This pattern leaves no doubt that the fires are intentional and part of a broader sectarian campaign.
The fires are spreading rapidly, with new outbreaks reported in multiple locations. Two terrorist groups have claimed responsibility for some of these acts, further underlining the severity and sectarian nature of the attacks.
We call on the international community, humanitarian organizations, and global disaster response bodies to immediately provide helicopter-based aerial firefighting support and deploy specialized teams to help extinguish the fires and offer urgent humanitarian aid to protect civilians.
