๐ Lebanon โ Tripoli | Incendiary Sermon Targeting Patriarch John X
Lebanese cleric Ali Al-Hussein delivered an inflammatory sermon from the pulpit of Al-Rahma Mosque in the city of Tripoli, which he shared online under the title: โTo the Patriarch of Syria.โ
This title is factually incorrect, as His Beatitude Patriarch John X Yazigi is the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox Church, not merely the โPatriarch of Syria.โ
The sermon was filled with misleading statements and sectarian incitement, including the use of the term โBarrel Bomb Patriarch,โ which Al-Hussein publicly promoted.
He ignored the broad support and consensus across Syrian communities, including a significant number of Sunni Muslims, for the Patriarchโs recent statement holding the Syrian government responsible for the terrorist bombing of Doueilaa Church last Sunday.
โSince when did criticizing the Syrian government become blasphemy?
๐ Hypocrisy of some clerics: what they allow for themselves, they forbid for others.
๐๏ธ We strongly condemn this sectarian rhetoric and call on religious authorities in Lebanon and beyond to shut down pulpits of hate.
