Following a documented public threat issued earlier this morning by members of the General Security forces affiliated with the de facto authority — written on the church wall with the words: “Your turn is coming” ——
Moments ago, a jihadist affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Defense carried out a deadly terrorist attack during the liturgy at St. Elias Church, opening fire on worshippers before detonating a suicide belt inside the sanctuary.
⚫ Preliminary toll: At least 25 martyrs and dozens wounded, according to medical sources in Damascus hospitals.
This sectarian terrorist assault on worshippers and martyrs amounts to a crime against humanity under international law.
